The People Pleaser’s Dilemma

By: Nina Bidwai, IATG ContributorJuly 29, 2016

Independence can take many forms.

My form of independence this summer is learning how to be confident and happy on my own. I often let other’s thoughts and worries consume my mind, so I decided that this summer I would become more independent. Even though I have people in my life that think they know best, I decided that only I know what works best for me. As simple as it sounds, It’s been difficult, because I want to make everyone happy.

But that’s not how life works.

People will be unhappy, and you have to learn how to be happy, live, and move on despite how they feel.

Independence for me is being able to live my life and be confident enough in myself. Just like everyone else, I’ve had some unfortunate situations come about, and sometimes they don’t go away. What I’ve learned, however, is that I can push these things out of my mind and move forward. I can work to my full potential, because I am in control of my own life.

No one knows you as well as you know yourself.

So here’s to being independent. Here’s to knowing I can do whatever I set my mind to, and being calm, graceful, and inspired during the journey.

Let’s Chat!

Are you a people pleaser? Well now’s the time to please the most important person of all, YOU! Take some time today to do whatever makes YOU happy. Have an extra slice dessert, apply for your dream job, or simply have a little “me time”. You deserve it.

I like this post. It came at a time when I’m making a decision and complicating the process by reviewing other’s possible reactions. I’m grateful to God for allowing me to stumble across your blog. Thank you for sharing your journey, it makes a difference. Iris
