There are many ways to get to a musician’s heart: buying his music, attending shows, bringing other fans to the fold, or baking him blueberry cobbler. “Home-baked goods are something I love,” says musician Austin Bis. “Carrot cake, fudge, anytime someone puts their love into cooking for you, that’s a special thing.” Music is the art and industry that Austin bakes his love and enthusiasm into as the lead singer of the band, Magic Giant, which just released an amazing single "Glass Heart," available for free download here and also available through iTunes. Austin is also a bad*ss collaborator having worked closely with such musical icons as John Legend, Adam Levine, and Paul Oakenfold. Understanding that music can do more than entertain, but can also change the social fabric, Austin co-founded the Get Well Soon Tour with producer Benny Blanco. The tour helps brighten the spirits of children in hospitals across the nation by bringing pop superstars such as Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, and Maroon 5 to play acoustic sets. With hard work (and more than a pinch of love and passion) Austin looks forward to using his success to pay his good fortune forward, commenting: “the more that you have, the more you can do with it to help others.”
If you could describe yourself in one hashtag, what would it be?
Tell us about a girl in your life who rocks.
My girlfriend. She inspires me daily. Her love and energy is infectious and lights up a room or individual. She has the undeniable ability to connect with everyone in any situation.
What are your dreams/goals/ambitions?
I dream of making as many people as possible across the world feel more love and joy, more connected with each other, and more in tune with themselves and their emotions. I hope to share my music as a vessel to achieve my dream.
What are you most proud of?
My family. Mom, Dad, older brother, and Grandma.
What do you find most sexy about a girl?
The skill to lead any situation and the strength to soften and be able to put her trust in someone else.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Exploring. Performing. Writing music. Inspiring others.
What is the number one item on your bucket list?
Raise an incredible family who loves each other deeply and see my children grow to be abnormally happy.
Who has been the biggest male influence in your life and why?
My brother. He has set such an amazing example in being whoever you want to be. In creating your own abundance in all areas of life. In following your passion. Believing in your gut. Following your dreams.
What is the biggest risk you’ve ever taken and what did you learn from it?
Turning my songwriting and performing passions into a career. That it's the most fulfilling thing I could be doing. I've learned that even with hard work, focus, and determination towards what you most desire, probably comes a long uphill journey, and to value the journey as much as the destination.
What is one stereotype about men that isn’t really true?
I try to avoid stereotypes.
