Shift Into the Positive

In Los Angeles there is a common theme amongst the majority of the population: we are all striving to live the most positive life we possibly can. We do the work, we meditate, think positively, create vision boards, we listen to and read audio books on staying positive, manifesting goals, and living the lives we want. We’re constantly striving, working, and manifesting to create an abundant, happy life. 

Have you ever caught yourself thinking “why can’t I just have one easy day?”  Well what would you do if you had several easy days, maybe even several easy weeks? Just plain happiness, like you’re on vacation but you’re right at home in your city. 

It’s called “the shift:” the point when you start to notice your hard work paying off, and it sort of creeps up on you. Conversations change, they become more positive, less gossipy, more productive, less “stuck,” more fun, and less malicious. And before you know it, LIFE IS GOOD!  You have the friends you wanted, the love you wanted, the relationships you wanted, the job you wanted, the money you wanted, and the fun you wanted. 

What do we do when the good stuff finally gets here?

Don’t stop there. Living a positive and thriving life is exactly like working out, it’s not easy at first but once you start seeing results and feeling better, the workouts get easier and you don’t want to stop. With positive thinking, it’s almost hard to believe that just your thoughts can produce actual results, but once they do it becomes a fun addiction. You’ll want to “positively think” your way out of anything. And why not? Why not try to find the good in EVERYTHING? 

So lately I’ve found myself in a “positive way.” All of the books and positive conversations have caused a virtual 10 pounds of negativity to just fall off of my body. I’m sitting back, enjoying feeling good everyday, and I’m excited to spread positive energy and good conversations to my friends and family. 


The power of positive thinking will allow you to see the good in everything: bad weather, death, lack of money, possessions, direction; it’s possible to find the positive in every one of these situations and head in that direction. Positive thinking also makes the smallest positive situations that much more enjoyable. Nothing makes me happier than a good song and the sun shining, that’s all I need to be happy in that moment. It also allows you to be more realistic about negative feelings like guilt, anger, jealousy, impatience, greed, and fear. Once you start thinking positively most of these feelings can be dismissed within seconds

The work I’ve done is really evident when I circle back to old relationships, which used to function in negativity and often that person is still in a negative state. It’s unfortunate because it becomes a little difficult for me to have a conversation with someone who only sees the negative in every situation. But that’s really just another exercise for my brain, the challenge is to stay in my positive state instead of slipping back into the old defeating ways of thinking. 

Want to get started thinking positively? 

Here’s what I did:

I started by listening to Money and the Law of Attraction by Esther and Jerry Hicks on audio book. I listened to it whenever I traveled, or went running, or was stuck in traffic. I listened to it while I was folding my laundry or cleaning the house. I listened to it over and over and over.  Sometimes I’ll find myself in a bit of a slump and I’ll throw this book and go for a walk – it immediately makes me feel better. 

The second thing I did was read Excuses Be Gone by Dr. Wayne Dyer. I personally do better with reading books rather than listening to them but this is also a great audio book. 

Another amazing book is How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie, this was one of my most favorite and helpful tools in changing my life. 

Start with these tools, after a while you’ll notice so many other positive articles, books, people, etc., you’ll never run out of ways to live positively. But the MOST IMPORTANT action you can take in living positively is just that: take action. Use what you’ve learned! Start living, thinking, and communicating positively as soon as you can. You’ll start to notice that other positive people begin to gravitate to you, answers to lifelong questions are answered and it feels like anything is possible. Because it really, truly is.
