Willow Smith may come from Hollywood royalty, but this 11-year-old dynamo is making a name for herself in the music world. Her latest track, "I Am Me" was just unveiled last week at the BET Awards. The song is all about being content with who you really are, and no young star embodies that sentiment better than Willow.
She was born in Los Angeles back in 2000 to Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. The rising star's first on-screen role came at the age of seven when she starred alongside her dad in I Am Legend. Despite her dad having the lead role in the picture, Willow still had to audition to land the coveted part. She co-starred in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl the following year, and also did a guest spot on the Nickelodeon series True Jackson, VP. It's Willow's music career, however, that has really gained traction. She released the now iconic "Whip My Hair" in 2010, and was even signed by Jay-Z's label, Roc Nation. We're big fans of Willow's willingness to be an individual as well as her philanthropic endeavors, which include helping raise awareness for children orphaned by the global AIDS epidemic through her service as a youth ambassador for Hasbro's Project Zambi.
