Natalie Duncan is proud of her ability to be both beautifully and boldly inconsistent. She artfully navigates from soul to classical and even jazz influences on her recently released album, Devil In Me. "The style of my album is inconsistent but consistent in that my voice ties it all together," Natalie informed BANG Showbiz. Nowhere is her stylized vocal delivery more evident than on her first single, “Sky Is Falling.” The animated video for the unique track is just as engaging, featuring an interesting dichotomy between forest scenes complete with frolicking woodland creatures and city skylines.
This Nottingham-born singer/songwriter actually taught herself how to play piano, and even held songwriting contests with friends while locked in her bedroom. Natalie also learned some music appreciation by listening to her dad's eclectic record collection containing the likes of Freddie McGregor, Pink Floyd, and Sly & Robbie. In her later teenage years, the aspiring artist began performing her material at local venues. It was at one of those area gigs back in 2010 where an executive at Decca Records spotted her, and coaxed her into a record deal. She also took part in a BBC music project Goldie was embarking on, which resulted in the single called "Freedom." Her current solo effort was crafted around her original demos with an upscale production value worked into the tracks. In addition to her impressive voice and songwriting prowess, we applaud Natalie for her openness about battling depression.
