Lot's of musicians start out busking: performing on street corners in cities and towns all over the world. Musician Jennah Bell kicked the busking scene up a notch when she recorded and released videos of herself performing in California's Bay Area transit stations (BART), titling it The Subway Series. This move keeps with Jennah's fresh approach to music making, which also draws from influences as eclectic as Dub, Funk, Folk, and Soul.
Raised in Oakland California, Jennah honed her music chops at Boston's Berklee College of Music, studying flute, piano, and drums before settling on guitar. Her sound is characterized as both "ferocious" and "quirky" and is in full display on her debut EP Early Bird.
About the tunes on Early Bird from her website: "Bell tackles loves songs like “Follow the White Rabbit” with reckless abandon, pens laments with the best of them with songs like “Shotgun City”, and carries deft lyricism with a gracious, breathy lilt."
