Music Mondays: Candi Carpenter

Candi Carpenter may be a country artist, but her musical inspiration comes from a variety of genres. The rising star's inspirational list includes Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and Sting along with legends like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, and Loretta Lynn. Candi's emotional video for the track, "My Fault Too," shows off her multifaceted musical inspirations thanks to its poignant lyrics filled with self-realization and introspection. It was shot in the remnants of a real-life burned down 1950s-style diner just outside of Nashville.

This ambitious performer actually set her sights on Nashville at just 15 years old. She left school and her hometown of Lansing, Michigan to pursue her dream of becoming a musician. That dream was sparked back in the sixth grade after Candi slipped a note to Vince Gill at his concert asking if she could yodel for him. He brought her up onstage and the young girl was hooked. She learned guitar as well as the harmonica and played all kinds of gig around Nashville, the ideal training ground for a girl brought up on country music. She even documented her journey via the web series, Candi Land. Candi has already appeared in videos for big-name artists such as Alan Jackson, Kid Rock, and Brooks & Dunn. We're pretty confident Candi's about to be the next big thing in country music and appreciate her conviction to her craft as well as her immense vocal talents.
