Promise yourself...To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. -Christian D. Larson, "Your Forces and How to Use Them"
Occasionally, there are days where I feel exhausted, frustrated, and just plain upset about a situation. During those times I find it helpful to remind myself of our vast universe. If someone looks out from space, and observes our planet, signs of life forms can’t be seen. If you look closer, we all look like tiny specks, almost like little ant colonies.
I realize from this observation that we are all just tiny creatures with fluctuating emotions. I'm able to let go of that pointless argument, an extremely rude person at the grocery store or even the person who breaks an important promise. Despite these irritating situations, I've discovered we should just live, and move on. There is so much more out there. If we dwell on negative thoughts it only causes stress. This thought has helped me let go of anxiety and stress, because I realize we are such a small part of the universe.

Another way to let go of a past or present conflict is to control your negative thoughts. These thoughts just love gnawing at your brain, making you continuously fall through a black hole of depressing negativity. The feeling worsens when we believe the negative thoughts flowing through our minds.
Recently, I encountered an article on psychology.about.com about the toxicity of negative thoughts. The author says the first step is analyzing what we're thinking. Is it a constant stream of negativity? Unconscious thinking can make us have bouts of sadness or anger.
On the other hand, negative talk about oneself is a giant culprit of negative thoughts. This is mainly because of the extreme anxiety it produces. I work daily to enhance my life. This is done by analyzing my negative thoughts and combating them with positive affirmations. There are short videos online that consist of uplifting affirmations spoken by calming voices. These videos are amazing to listen to as you wake up, because it puts positive thoughts into your mind first thing in the morning.
In the last few years I struggled to overcome many challenges. This is why I find it helpful to practice letting go on a daily basis to move my life forward. Recognizing the negative thoughts flowing through my mind, and being proactive to replace them with positive is a constant task. Negative thinking only contributes to anxiety, depression, worry, and anger. Therefore, I try to take life as it comes. My life is too precious to worry and dwell on conflicts.
I intend to just live.
