In Self We Trust

By: Alexis Meads, Regular Contributor

This is one of the questions I get asked the most from my clients and readers:

How do I trust myself?

This comes up particularly around relationships. How can I trust that I will meet the right person? Or that things will work out?

Well, the honest truth is, we can never know exactly how things will work out.

I believe that’s why horoscopes and psychic readings are so popular, because we want to know that things will be okay and prepared for what’s to come.

But if we knew everything that was going to happen our lives would be about as exciting as waiting for dial-up.

Part of the fun is in the mystery of life. I believe that we do have a destiny but that we also have control over our choices and what happens to us.

And therefore the only thing to do is trust.

Trust that you will meet the perfect partner. Trust that you can make your business a success. Trust that everything will work out. Not in your own time, but in the right time.

Surrender doesn’t mean giving up. Quite the opposite, it means allowing the space to make it happen because you’re no longer squeezing the life out of it.

For example, have you heard people say that they met someone when they were least expecting it? For years I was trying soo hard to get into a great relationship. As soon as I decided to focus on making myself happy and knowing that one day I’d find someone, it happened. This is surrender.

Surrender also doesn’t mean sitting back and waiting. You can surrender while you take hell-bent-for-glory kind of action! If you really want something, and you trust that it’s going to happen, than get out there!

You’re not going to meet that special someone while lounging around in sweats on the couch eating a pint of ice cream. You make it happen by getting out of your comfort zone. Get out there, put on clothes that make you feel fabulous, flirt your buns off.

Same goes for launching a business, finding your ideal home, or any other dream you have.

So please, trust yourself. Know that whatever it is you are waiting for in life, it will happen. Why not? You are your perfectly imperfect, wonderful, beautiful self.

Tell me, what is one small action you can take today?
