When was the last time that you did a good thing for someone just because, out of the blue, and for no reason? Not because it was the honorable thing to do, or the right thing, or because someone told you to. Most people do good not on purpose but for a purpose, waiting for an outcome that will benefit them twice as much it will benefit others.
I am a Christian; therefore I believe in such a thing as Heaven for good people and as Hell for evil people (although I don't like to think about the fact that there really are evil people in this world but still), yet that doesn't mean that I do good things just because I want to go to Heaven, and neither should you. Goodness should be our first response, an involuntary act that you do without noticing. However, goodness has become as rare as Santa (sorry for ruining it for you but Santa is actually your loved ones and this is the reason why you get exactly what you asked even if you were naughty because they love you despite of that).
I wish human beings could understand that we are all the same, that from the moment I underestimate another human being I am questioning my own value. I honestly can't believe nor accept that a piece of land and oil are more valuable than the lives that have been taken in the Gaza Strip, that diamonds and gold are more precious than the children in Africa (I said children because due to the poverty mostly won't get to adulthood). Why is that so important?
I understand that evolution is a constant process and that we need those resources in order to keep it ongoing. But if we have to kill one another in the process to whom are we building a world for? See it? It makes no sense! So what makes sense? What's the point of writing this article, what is the point if the ones responsible for all this mess will not read it? Well, that I can answer: I'm writing this for you, not for them. You (we) are the future! You can change it by not becoming them, by not allowing money and power to be more important than life itself.
I have faith in our generation, I have faith in you! I would like to invite you to look back on all the good things that someone has done for you, are you feeling grateful? Now, look around, find someone, and pay it forward!
Doing good feels great and there are so many ways to put something positive into the world: volunteer at your school, church, or in your community; help out a friend; participate in a fundraising drive; or pick up the trash around your neighborhood or favorite park. There no wrong ways to get and give some good!
