Lately, I’ve been really leaning on my friends for support whenever something doesn’t necessarily go the way I expect it to. More importantly, this circle of friends is always there for me whenever something good happens as well. It’s taken me years to find people I can pour my heart and soul into, and I’m forever grateful to have these strong women and men around me to catch me when I fall and happy-jump whenever something spectacular happens. It’s truly an amazing feeling finding and knowing you have a solid group of friends you wholeheartedly belong to.
Your tribe should be composed of those who reflect what you aspire to be. They should be loving, supportive, and unabashedly real. They should make your heart and soul smile and burst with so much happiness just by being in their presence. They should make you feel like you’re on top of the world, but also keep you grounded to your core so you don’t stray too far from your true self. They should make the wounds you endure a little less brutal by grazing them with the touch of words of encouragement and love. They should challenge the way you think and give you an alternative perspective on something you may have a strong viewpoint on. They teach you about tolerance and patience. But most importantly, they teach you to love yourself as much as they love you.
I’m lucky enough to be surrounded by a great group of friends who believe in my ability to be something greater than myself. I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve friends like these. I count myself blessed every day because their presence in my life is something I will never take for granted. They keep me sane, but also make me a little crazy. They love and accept me for my weird self and jump in on the weirdness with me. They’re passionate and ambitious and all-around amazing individuals. If you’ve found a tribe that makes you feel like you’re home, hold onto them tight and make sure they know how passionately you feel about their friendship, because this kind of love makes the world go ‘round. If you haven’t found a tribe yet, rest assured, you will because you’re an awesome person with so much love to give and receive. These tribes can sneak up on you too. One day, you’ll realize that your tribe has been with you all along, waiting for you to accept them and yourself. Our tribes are forces to be reckoned with.
Let's chat! Have you found your tribe? How have they helped you be, love, and express your true self? Tell us about it here!
