Great Caesar is a band you’re probably going to hear a lot about today. The band’s music video was just uploaded to Upworthy, where it’s only a matter of time before it goes viral. And before you roll your eyes – quick to protest whatever gimmick the band resorted to in order to create content worthy of sending to everyone you’ve ever met – take seven minutes and watch the video.
The video focuses on three mixed race couples that are young and in love. The first couple we meet fall in love in an America that still hears the cries of “segregation now, segregation tomorrow, and segregation forever” echoed down every street. The other two couples are made up of high school students who are finding out that being in a loving, homosexual relationship doesn’t necessarily guarantee a “happily ever after.”
The video is beautiful, and the music is haunting. You might cry watching it, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Watch it, love the ones you love, and encourage others to do the same.
