Thank you. Yes, I want to thank I AM THAT GIRL. This awesome organization recently renewed its website, a sign that IATG is growing up and deserves recognition for its impact.  I wanted to take a moment and reflect on what I AM THAT GIRL has done for and given me. The founders/ members of IATG always tell us how amazing we are. Now this is my turn to tell them how awesome they are.

I’m not a kind of person that gets involved easily. Probably I am too rational, too suspicious, or I am too much of a nerd; I like to analyze as many different points of view as possible, and I try to know everything about something before giving my opinion or before feeling right about it; I always have doubts about being right.

I’ve never doubted myself one second with IATG. The day I found this website, simply while surfing the web, I felt incredibly and totally in line with the IATG cause. I actually felt this strong feeling in my stomach, the same excitement and happiness as the one you feel the moment you meet someone you get along with so well it’s like you’ve been friends forever.

I was deeply touched to see some girls who were like me: they had the same questions about life, about relationships, and about themselves; they had the same fears and hopes, the same doubts and moments of pride. What struck me was the true benignity of the messages; you know, this benignity the world is starving for, that I was starving for. I felt really understood and it felt so good.

From that day, IATG has also given to me the support and the encouragement I sometimes haven’t found around me. A simple quote or a video (in which a girl talks about her life) can be enough to give me back some energy, and it reminds me that I’m not the only one struggling with some existential questions. Listening to the brilliant Alexis Jones is always a blast and is now my self-medication when I’m losing faith and when I need a boost.

I AM THAT GIRL reminds me and keeps convincing me that I’m worth it and that I’m good enough, clever enough, and strong enough to go through my life’s challenges, to figure things out. IATG also says out loud that I have the right to be vulnerable and that it’s not a bad thing; it’s actually a beautiful and a powerful strength which leads to resilience. Finally, IATG helps me to keep in mind that I deserve as much respect and consideration as everyone else and I have the right and especially the duty to stand up for myself.

So today, I want to thank I AM THAT GIRL and all the people that this organization involves from the bottom of my heart, and I want to tell you how much you make this world better. As William Shakespeare once said: “Little deeds of kindness, little words of love, make our Earth an Eden like the heaven above.”

About Lorene: Lorene is a French observer and learner of life. She’s been working as a salesperson and a marketing assistant for four years to learn the ropes of the business world. She used to be a sports journalist while doing her Master’s degree and she loves writing and telling stories about great people too much to not go back to her first love soon. She lives in the French Alps and loves to try to solve the world’s problems while having a great meal with her loved ones. She is passionate about foreign languages, self-development books, American TV shows, and people. Oh, and she’s a total nerd of Academic studies (when she’ll win the lottery, she’ll go to Harvard).
